available for them in the J.T.S. and the suggestions of Prof.
?
Roffey on p. 37 of the Report, though possibly practicable, have
obvious disadvantages.
The points which will arise are
(1) Site and plans for school on Senior Lines to
accommodate 100 150 part time day students
in 4 of 5 years.
(2) Inclusion in such a building of accommodation
for T.I. Classes.
(3) Is a definite "trade school" for the engineering
and building industries required? and if so is it
to be included under one roof with above?
N. B. The Science Laboratory could be made available to a limited
extent. (See also page 11).
(c) Staff.
The necessity for the division of each year into two classes
must inevitably lead to an increase in the staff establishment over
that contemplated in the Report before the present situation arose.
The present staff consists of two University Trained Teachers
and one part time Carpentry instructor. Both of the University Trained
Teachers hold the degree of Bachelor of Arts of Hong Kong University,
and while it is essential to provide a certain number of "Arts"
graduates on the Staff, the peculiar demands of the Junior Technical
School will certainly require teachers with a different training from
those required for secondary schools. The estimated requirements are
shown in Table II.
